Thumbs up: +20
Wasn't intending to bother with any more lists but even with Spotify I'm having trouble keeping track of everything I like, so this list is purely for recording very good stuff, not even decent stuff I think is ok. Just 8 scores and above.

Added as I find new stuff, not in order of preference.

I have a feeling you'll like this.

Half a song into it and I've already heard some Godflesh tinged djent, with bizarre ambient / industrial effects and also some free-jazz of sorts.

Coloured me positively fascinated. Also love that album art.

Cover art is bloody fantastic indeed. That got me intrigued initially but the music is far from shabby as well.

This may be the closest I've ever heard a metal band get to proper Throbbing Gristle-esque industrial. That's a pretty fucking significant achievement in my book. Love it already.

JOOE and I don't always agree on music, but when we do, we make sure it's awesome (I can only remember a handful of others but they're all eipc: Orbeth, Chimp Spanner, Subrosa, Royal Thunder, Spelljammer)

We definitely have some common ground sometimes If we both like it them it's probably going to be pretty ace.

69 albums in this list, the best number to finish
IronAngel - 08.04.2013 at 23:33
Needs more Anthroprophh. (Not that they're extra super special or anything, but the kind of psychedelic space drone that's usually up your alley.)

Totally forgot to check this out when I got back. Sounds nice though. Will give the album on Spotify a listen now.

I've been not really absent but let's say I've had a pellucid presence for the last year or so, and though life has been somewhat unbecoming as of late I just wanted to take a few seconds out of its turbid stream to let you know that I still regularly check your lists for quality releases.

Cheers.

Your presence has been sorely missed =] sorry things aren't going as well as they could and hope it improves soon. I shall endeavour to keep this list updated and not get lazy with it like I did last year.

Give those a listen:

Sulphur Aeon - Swallowed by the Ocean's Tide, some potent Lovecraftian death metal.

Cultes des Ghoules - Henbane, interesting polish black metal to say the least.

I'm pretty sure Joe knows them sinc ehe gave them a thumbs up for the staff pick. Also, it's considered a 2012 release.

What's the difference? Seriously?

Even if an album is released one minute or one second before 2013 it's still a 2012 release. So there's the difference for ya. You have to draw the line somewhere or else you might as well add every release of the end of 2012...

I think Sulpher Aeon was actually the first album suggested in the 2013 suggesting thread

It was because when we first found it (which was when Joe decided to start that thread), the site it was on listed a 2013 release date. However I discovered shortly after that, that it had been actually been released digitally via iTunes in December 2012. Joe just never took it out of the 2013 OP cuz he's lazy.

Would've earned an MS Awards nomination if you ask me

I made a big stink about the album after discovering it was a 2012 release to ensure it would be considered for the 2012 MSAs. It was fairly popular among Staff too, and was even tied with Ævangelist for the 10th spot in the nomination finals, but it lost out as you can tell.

... All I'm saying is arguing over the release date is wholly pointless, since its quality is independent of its release date and therefore, the difference is really only an irrelevant technicality.

The one thing I meant by my propos was that If it's good music it's good music all around. I've no quandary with my recommendations.

That is obvious...

But what I meant with my first comment was the fact that this was Joe's list of 2013 albums. He does have a list for 2012 albums that you could used to post your rec. That is all. In that context, yes... it does matter.

Fine. I know its obvious that's why I didn't expand on it in my second post.

I made an irrelevant mistake that I've acknowledged but am unable to correct. What am I to do? I made the best of it by stating the obvious, though even the obvious seems to cause some sort of controversy so yes, my good Doctor, it does matter in the context, I've never argued the contrary, just tried to make the best of it. I hope this is the end of this, if not well its okay. This is just as fun as anything I've done today. Cheers.

WOAH dude, talk about blowing the shit out of proportion and specially to the wrong person. If you feel like being passive-agressive with someone do it with EMols86. My first comment was in good terms. Leave me out of it, jeez.

I actually wrote my comment obnoxiously on purpose to prove some point but I guess I strayed a bit to far. I overreacted and I sincerely apologize for that, I'm a bit oversensitive today. Now, that I reread what I wrote that last part seemed totally uncalled for, I guess I was just venting, you were the unfortunate recipient, but if it's any comfort I feel much better now. Cheers.

I think I've liked almost everything they've done. This new one seems to be a bit different though (from the first track). Sounds like they've almost gone witch house on us. That being said I actually loved the track. I'll see what the others are like.
