This is a favorites list, not a guide or anything of that sort. It just highlights the albums that I've enjoyed listening to and spinned extensively since last November (When I got into this monolithic genre.) One entry for each band. The descriptions aren't necessarily descriptions of the music. I just wrote what came to my mind. I will update with new albums frequently.
EDIT: Got to 50 entries, so I guess I'll stop for now. I want more time to revisit these 50, get into the other albums of the bands listed below and delve into other genres of metal. I guess that taking a break from black metal (at least new stuff) will ensure that I won't get bored of it. It is likely that I'll continue this list by the half of July.

This list isn't really in a set order except the first five, which really were just far and away my top 5. Then everything up to Aspera (or Above Symmetry as they are now called...I will keep it as Aspera for the list purposes tho, since that is who they were when the album was released) is the next tier. Everything after that is kinda in shambles. I tried to keep it to top 25 like my other lists, but there were some on the fringe of making this list, so feel free to check out my album votes for the near misses.

What a harsh year this has been to fans of metal. We're not even through December and I'm still fearing that another one of our beloved musicians might get sick and die. The year certainly wasn't as massive as 2009, but luckily had quite a strong finish. If there's one thing that the albums have in common, it's that they're all completely unique. Bands that try something different will always score more points in my book. Here are the ones that I believe will continue to have the biggest impact on the way metal will evolve in the coming decade. Without further ado, I present to you my top 20 albums of 2010.
