Death Metal: The Next Level

Within the past ten years or so, death metal seems to have really taken off into some bolder, more unorthodox territory. It hasn't gotten quite as crazy as its black metal cousin has, but nonetheless, a good amount of younger bands have taken strides towards creative, interesting new twists on the classic death metal sound. This list essentially seeks to illustrate this trend.

1. Nile - In Their Darkened Shrines
2. Portal - Outre'
3. Skeleton Of God - Primordial Dominion
4. Mitochondrion - Parasignosis
5. Chaos Echús - Tone Of Things To Come
