Most Talented Vocalists In Metal

My other lists:
Tasty Stuff Not Currently Featured On MS
So I Heard You Like Opeth...

A concise list of my metalhead man-crushes (now featuring ladies.)

While there is little introduction required for some of these bands and their front(wo)men, there are no words that can accurately describe such jaw-dropping talent anyhow. The albums and youtube links listed are meant to display the full capacity of vocalists' talents, not the bands' most quality or popular tracks - click the links below and behold the prowess.

1. Abstrakt Algebra - Abstrakt Algebra
2. Adagio - Underworld
3. Akercocke - Words That Go Unspoken, Deeds That Go Undone
4. Amorphis - Silent Waters
5. Anaal Nathrakh - Vanitas

Only my absolute favourite stuff from 2014.

The @gents Old School Death Metal / Not So Old School Grindcore List

Bands listed alphabetically, One album per band (With the exception of Carcass and Napalm Death who appear in the Grind and Death Metal sections). Some bands may not be pure old school (Death / Thrash, Doom Death / Death Doom and early Brutal / Technical Death Included) I have also Included some of the more extreme Thrash releases that pre-dated the genre but undoubtedly help pave the way for things to come, I included these as I wish to give a general summary of the way Death Metal began and evolved throughout the 80's and 90's.

1. Old School Death Metal (Late 80's - 90's)
2. Abhorrence - Abhorrence [EP]
3. Acrostichon - Engraved in Black
4. Adramelech - Psychostasia
5. Afflicted - Prodigal Sun

The Epics (Because I Don't Think Pyramid God Is Coming Back)

My version of The Epics (Best Songs Over 10 Minutes) only this time it's more The Epics (Songs Over 10 Minutes) because we kept griping to PG and he wouldn't update his list. According to his profile he hasn't been on in... 371 days. So I thought "Hey, why not do it myself?"
Arranged by time. If you feel or know a song should be on here, let me know. I'm a mainstream fag, so I only listen to the popular stuff. I might have missed some bands.

1. Be'lakor - Stone's Reach
2. Kalisia - Cybion
3. Sun Of The Blind - Skullreader
4. Nile - Ithyphallic
5. Nightwish - Once

My Favourite Progressive Metal/rock Albums Of The Decade

This is the list of my favourite progressive metal/rock albums of the decade. I decided to do this list because a new decade is starting, so it's a good time to look back. Beware, this is not a "best progressive metal albums of the decade" list, it's my favourites, not necessarily the ones that were the best for everyone else or me.

1. Riverside - Out Of Myself
2. Porcupine Tree - In Absentia
3. Riverside - Second Life Syndrome
4. Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
5. Opeth - Blackwater Park

Oh God... Did You Eat All This Acid? That's Right. Music!

You better pray to God there's some Thorazine in that bag....

A personal list of metal, vaguely metal and metal related albums I consider psychedelic that expand, contort, implode, transcend and numb my mind, in the nicest possible ways. Read that as: I don't care about your definition of psychedelic; my mind goes where it gets carried

1. A Forest Of Stars - The Corpse of Rebirth
2. A Void In Coma - A Primal Obsession With The Cosmos...
3. Acid Witch - Witchtanic Hellucinations
4. Aluk Todolo - Occult Rock

2012: Towards The Megalist

I'm (sorta) back. *The Finishing Touches* OKAY, so obviously not as much stuff from the last half of the year as the first. Sorry guys, but that first six months nearly killed me. Some stuff as a result will be missing, but major stuff not present is stuff I probably didn't care for. Alrighty then, enough with the "stuff"...

1. Bound by Entrails - The Stars Bode You Farewell
2. Royal Thunder - CVI
3. Akphaezya - Anthology IV: The Tragedy of Nerak
4. Dissona - Dissona
5. Anhedonist - Netherwards

A Quick Guide For Thrash Metal, Sex, And Tacos!

Thrash Metal is, and will always be my favorite type of music. No matter how many sub-genres or idiotic names some bands give to their music style, they'll never reach the complex "simplicity" of Thrash metal. It's raw, heavy, fast, aggressive, and has a historical impact that probably no other type of heavy metal style will ever reach.

1. Venom - Welcome To Hell
2. Discharge - Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing
3. Suicidal Tendencies - Suicidal Tendencies
4. Metal Church - Metal Church
5. Metallica - Ride The Lightning

Favourite Bands And Then Their Horrible Fuckshit Gutwrenching Excuse For "Album Artwork"

These as said above in my opinion, the worst most inexcuseable passed out finished covers out of the full discographies of some of my favourite artists in which some of them are known for specific styles. Yet these ones are shit. In no specific order except for remembrance.

1. Slayer - Undisputed Attitude
2. Slayer - Diabolus In Musica
3. Iron Maiden - Virtual XI
4. Iron Maiden - Dance Of Death
5. Amon Amarth - The Crusher

The Best "(Gothic) Beauty And The Beast" Albums

Here's a list of mostly Gothic Metal albums, exclusively of the "Beauty and the Beast" type (which refers to clean "angelic" female vocals contrasted with male growls/screams). I made this list because it's one of my all-time favourite subgenres of which I own "a lot" of great albums. Since there are several lists of the best Gothic Metal albums on MS, I didn't feel like creating a similar one, but rather an exclusive list solely comprised of this subgenre. It could be useful as a guide for people who are searching for these kinds of albums, though I'm very open to suggestions since I obviously haven't heard all great albums yet. Lastly, everything on this list is at least worth a 7.5/10 rating and I only add a maximum of 2 albums per band.

1. Tristania - Widow's Weeds
2. The Sins Of Thy Beloved - Lake Of Sorrow
3. Draconian - Where Lovers Mourn
4. Epica - The Phantom Agony
5. Theatre Of Tragedy - Velvet Darkness They Fear

The Best Of Unorthodox Black Metal

Within the past decade, black metal has seen bands from all over the world incorporating new sounds to the genre and changing its delivery like never before. As great as the classic bands are, BM bands today seem to be branching out in every possible direction. From the beautiful chaos of the French bands, to the developing psychedelic black metal style, and even the Avantgarde craziness of Mories... all the experimentation is helping to create a bold new identity for the genre's sound. Black metal today could very well be the one area of metal where we see the most experimentation taking place, and I hope the albums in this list will illustrate this growing trend.

1. Deathspell Omega - Fas - Ite, Maledicti, In Ignem Aeternum
2. Blut Aus Nord - 777 - The Desanctification
3. Diapsiquir - Virus STN
4. Glorior Belli - The Great Southern Darkness
5. Kawir - Isotheos
