2014: From Professor JokeR's Perspective I'll start off by saying that I wasn't planning on doing a list so early on in the year, but I've come across numerous albums that I'd like to share with people who enjoy my lists (or people who hate my lists).
This list will be a little different than my 2013 list. I created that list at the end of the year, and then decreased it to my Top 25 of 2013. This list will be a compilation of all 2014 albums I've come across and given a listen.

Metal In The Time Of 2014 I doubt I'll have the time to sample enough music to match the 201 albums I covered in 2013, but hopefully I'll be able to listen to a fair few things and pass on me ol' thoughts.

Hidden Title Tracks – Album Titles That Come From A Song`s Lyrics Almost all album titles fall in one of two categories: The album shares the title with one of its songs (the title track) or, alternatively, the album title is independent from the songs (no title track).
However, there are examples of songs that have a central link to the album title without sharing the same name. In these cases, certain lyrics from the song were chosen as the album title. This (alphabetical) list shows the names of these “hidden title tracks” and the central lyrics that gave the name to the corresponding album. Please feel free to suggest more of your favorite metal/hard rock examples of these “hidden title tracks”.

Less Is More - Iron's 2014 This year, I will try to listen to less music more. That is, I won't go out of my way to hear and list every possible album I sort of dig on the first spin, and the ones I do include I aim to know thoroughly. A lot of the albums I include tentatively will probably get deleted, too. Without further preamble, interesting albums in no particular order:

Best Of 2010-2020 By Mz The best of 2010-2019. At the end it tuned out to be less diverse than what I thought it would be in terms of musical genres, with mostly black and death metal record filling the spots.
Recommendations more than welcomed.

2014 - Leth's List Of Likables (Non-Metal Inclusive) Pretty much every album that's caught my attention over the year, including non-metal. (Variety is a virtue, y'know
 )I'll only be commenting on albums that I've given enough time to really form an opinion on. Chances are albums that failed to interest me beyond a first listen will eventually be removed from the list.

Best Of 2014 So Far (mostly progressive) Rating:
10 - Allmost impossible to get. The band need to create something astronomical good. 9 - Only the best albums of the year gets this. 8 - A really good album on all levels. 7 - A good album, but nothing special. 6 - An average album with some good songs. 5 - Not a good album, maybe 1 or 2 good songs. 4 and below - I rather not waste my time on it...

That Cold Black Magic, By Glenn Killer And His Thorchestra As is the case with my other lists, this is for my own organizational purposes and is designed purely to help me keep track of all the many black metal bands and albums that I enjoy, since I can't keep all of this information in my head. It has no other benefit whatsoever and will likely result in tantrums should anyone else see it. I'm aware that I haven't listened to every black metal album that I should have. I only went down to the 6s on this list, so it's possible that I have listened to your favorite black metal album that you desperately need to suggest and I thought it was terrible. There are a lot of heinously incompetent black metal bands out there.
On the off-chance that you've found this and actually care about what I think (you shouldn't), be advised that my favorites come first. Some are favorites in the general sense; some are favorites within black metal. The first few of those are in some order and not so much after that. Because this is for my own purposes and not intended to be a definitive list of pure black metal, there are some black metal-adjacent bands, or albums by black metal bands that may not themselves be black metal. That's why you'll find so much Sigh clogging up the top of the list. I prefer to keep whole discographies together on one list. I used to include Primordial, Forefather, and other such bands, but a while back I created a list for folk and I decided that those artists would fit better there. I update these lists very infrequently. This was last updated December 7, 2022.
