A high point for the genre in an already strong year.

I almost completely ignored sympho this year, can you back that up?

Seven Spires Emerald Seas is a fantastic diverse album. Adrienne Cowan is going to be a star. Delain released easily their strongest album, a big step up for them. Serenity delivered to their usual high level. Then this album.

My feelings are probably slightly rose tinted as I purchased the back catalogue of Seven Spires and Eleine as well. Both I discovered for myself this year, so feel as though it has been a good year for my collection anyway. I only ever get physical CDs (I'm Old) so I don't listen to loads and loads on streaming.

Shame Nightwish was not great.

I actually did listen to Seven Spire, and the vocals are indeed fantastic, but it just made me wish that she played some other genre instead, like chamber pop, because her talents are kinda wasted there. I agree that Delain's is their best. I'll check Eleine and Serenity.

This kicks some serious ass! I expected mediocre generic forgettable sympho metal... man, was I wrong.
