Guest review by
Týr is a viking metal band. Oops, a mistake. Even though the riffs, and the folk elements are there, the sound is more like epic heavy/doom metal. Even so, I consider them to be Progressive Viking because their style is really unique, and it gives me a viking feeling when I hear them. Notice there is no harshness on the album, nor folk instruments. This isn't your typical Viking metal album. That it's what makes it so special.

The cover of this album reminds a lot of Equilibrium's ''Turis Fratyr''. Almost a copy cat

member of the true crusade against old school heavy metal, early 80s thrash, NWOBHM, traditional doom, first and second wave black metal, old school death metal, US power metal, 70s prog rock and atmospheric doomsludgestoner. o/

After being a fan of these guys for more than 10 years I think this is the peak of their music. The progressive elements is what gives Týr staying power and all their newer stuff, while exciting on first listen, just doesn't stay interesting for me.
