This is the successful radio-friendly commercial release they deserved. The sound and production is perfect.

I don't think it's as strong as Rage for Order, and especially Operation: Mindcrime, but overall, this is solid stuff.

Whilst this is definitely Queensryche at their most commercial and radio friendly, the immense songwriting talent within the band ensured that this was still a mostly stellar work, quality wise. "Anybody Listening?" in particular, would actually have been a standout track had it been on the previous album. Definitely one of the most majestic songs in the band's catalogue.

Pretty fun to listen to, but i have yet to see why it is so praised though

Then again, I said that about Operation:mindcrime last year and I love it now, so it might just be this one hasn't sunk in yet.

Yeah, it might grow on you but I personally don't think it's in the same league as Operation: Mindcrime. This album is just too commercial-sounding and catchy i.e. a bit pop-ish. Still really good songwriting though.

Silent Lucidity!!

It was a very long time since I heard this one and I remember i thought it was okey. Well it's not. You can clearly hear that the focus was to write songs that could generate as much $$ as possible and it doesn't feel natural, it feels forced and the production is so damn overly polished, the instruments almost sounds digital. Some good stuff here and there, mainly the pretty cool title track and the quite dramatic final track Anybody Listening? but overall it's just a mish mash of boring riffs and sleazy choruses.
