A Nice Guy
I find this to be unlike most death metal releases this year, this has a more modern technical approach, as opposed to the old school sound and song structure. It's still very brutal, and for what it lacks in melody it makes up for in complexity, there are also several slow acoustic sections, which gives a haunting atmosphere at times.

...song structure

I didn't think this would be a generally well received album for these exact reasons. It's unique but not necessarily in an identifiable way beyond its purposely disruptive writing. It isn't nearly on the same level as The Sanguinary Impetus but there seems to be a clear intent to make this a challenging album to listen to and in that, they've succeeded.
