About the video.. What's common to Scotland and Norge. It always rains there.

I like the song. I especially liked the shreddy guitar solo. Video was super cool as well. My only criticism, even if it's a small one, is that, compositionally speaking, the song felt a bit disjointed. It kind of feels like they took some great parts from a bunch a songs and put them together, even if they don't fit the best. This strikes me as a bit strange, because I've always considered Saor to write songs that flow so well together, even if there are unique parts (Tears of a Nation). Overall, I really like the song and have already preordered the album.

You know what to expect from a new Soar release by now, Andy is very consistent with his songwriting, and his past albums have all been very good. This album is probably one of his best works to date imo, the soundscapes take you on an epic journey through the ancient landscapes of the Scottish Highlands.
With the tribal drumming mixed with ferocious blast beats, and folky melodies mixed with trademark tremolo riffing, all produced at a high quality standard, this is nothing short of impressive to me. There are no weak tracks here imo, but "Beyond The Wall" is my pick as favourite, so much heroic passion! There are two bands that can truly master the art of folk black metal in this way imo, abd those are Saor and Primordial.

Enjoyed this more than the last - and that one was great too! "Fallen" has to be one of the shorter songs they've done... really enjoyable.

This album is pretty cool, this oneman-band is a huge inspiration to get back to work on my own songs.

This is great. The man really knows how to slowly ramp up a melody until peak beauty is attained. I gotta say that I enjoyed both singles immensely, especially the title track "Origins", and they ended up being the strongest tracks on the record. Need more listenings obviously, in my opinion "Aurora" is the "weakest" track, and even then it's still very good. I love the sound of bagpipes and it is so well implemented in his song. Went with an 8, but it's more of an 8,5 I'd say.

I don't know if I like it or not. I listened to it couple of times and there is something wrong with it. I cannot pin it but it does not sound right. I am going to leave it for a week or two and give it another go.
I really liked previous albums and maybe this is the case of too high expectations?

Good atmospheric, melancholic, but somehow to long instrumental parts, but I still can not get enough from this.

I failed to love the previous album as much as I had marveled at Gardian for instance... Will I recapture the flame with this one?

Pre-order just came in the mail. Super solid. Saor is getting more technical and shreddy while still keeping their distinctive sound. Fantastic album.

I really appreciate that Andy tried to vary things more than usual this time around. For trying a different vocal/growl style I can consider this my favorite album out of the last three for that reason alone. His usual barking growls have been too monotonous in the past.
The songs are shorter with slightly different structures than before which is refreshing. The guitars are a lot more prominent in the writing and lean a bit further into melodic death metal than black metal which works well. I think this is the first album that I can recall any bass parts I liked, or maybe the first time I was aware of any bass parts at all. The clean chant singing in most songs here doesn't do much for me but it's not bad. The folk elements are about as good as usual but that is what I've become desensitized to which is why I found Guardians and Forgotten Paths kind of stale.
I thought that Aura was an impressive step up from Roots but this is the first time since Aura that I felt like Andy really improved Saor's overall sound and direction. Origins isn't Saor's best album but it might be the most refined, for better or worse. It's a little generic but it isn't quite as lackluster as the last two in my opinion.

Saor is usually really good and this one was no exception. However I feel the band's previous outputs were better. I am somehow missing the chunky folky parts that Saor does so well. Highlights for me are fallen and origin.

This might be my favorite Saor. The atmosphere and melodies are deeply immersive. It’s hypnotic - somehow even moreso than their previous works. The first couple listens, I thought I might just be getting that new album energy. But months later after several listens, yeah… I think it’s that good.

Great album for those who love atmospheric music. Some progressions are mesmerising. What a musician. Video of Origin is also great.

It's always surprising what a musician alone when it's really prepared could be able to do. This is a proof of that. An amazing and sublime album.
