Death, Where Is Your Sting is the fifth installment by the now well esteemed doom metal band Avatarium, a band that have proven to be much more than just a simple side project for Candlemass songwriter Leif Edling. In their decade of existence, they have provided us with some rather unique and stellar doom metal releases, and now they introduce us to Death, Where Is Your Sting; so, where does this album fit into that impressively consistent discography of theirs? Well, it's certainly a solid release, to say the least.

It has to be said, this is some pleasantly soft doom.

I love it how all the Avatarium records seem to have their own unique atmosphere and even the most subtle of tweaks to their sound make the albums easily identifiable.
This one is even more dreamlike and engulfing than their previous offerings.
Alluringly hazy and seductive, yet at times almost triumphant and vibrant in its own dignified, apocalyptic manner, it definitely doesn't lower the bar compared with their earlier efforts. Guitar work and vocals are habitually superb and repeated listens tend to get really rewarding.
Well, in short, color me impressed. Definitely met my expectations.
What a cozy little apocalypse of an album.

For Doom, you need an exceptional melody to compensate the relatively simple music. This album certainly has that and the amazing vocal of Jennie-Ann Smith really lifts everything. Production and arrangements are well done which makes this album a very enjoyable listen.

Can not figure this out, even it's not true metal for classic headbanger values, it has some good doom,, maybe not their best but it's OK. I don't like capital city, really it's horrible place, but it's best song.

I may have to disagree with anybody who liked it but this one may be their weakest release yet. For all their musicality, they ARE lacking Leif's creative presence. If this was to be an EP it would have been way better in my opinion, than a full LP...just drags too much at spots and I am a doom fan. Too many bridges, just empty, filler passages...Again, the highest mark goes to production as it becomes the usual thing with Marcus's albums. Cover art is great, as is for all Avatarium releases.

This doom is non-doomic doom...😂...rather pleasant doom. Haven't heard them before. I can see that this is their least favorite among fans but maybe because i heard them first time, I liked.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘
