There seems to be very little fuss about this album on here.
Anyway, I quite like it. Definitely more than Empath, possibly more than Sky Blue or Epicloud.
I do have to be in the right mood for it though.

Great album, peeps giving this a seven is ludicrous and did not listen to Nightwork which is the better part of the album and akin to old school Devin Townsend.

Was in a Devin mood yesterday so I finally sat down with this and listened to it in its entirety. First, Empath is one of my favourite albums of all time, so I knew this wouldn't be my thing as much, since I'd heard the first disc was pretty straightforward and poppy, while the second was pretty crazy. Anyways, about the album: Lightwork (Disc 1) is made up of mostly amazing songs, with a few boring ones. But these amazing ones are full of stellar melodies and a really calming atmosphere, meaning despite their simplicity, I enjoyed them very much.

Disc 2, however, is a bit difficult to explain. I'm in the minority when I say I like Disc 1 more. Nightwork seems like craziness lacking any direction whatsoever, unlike Empath which broke the insanity up when it build to melodic and ambient passages. While Nightwork has its calmer points, they aren't very captivating and I just find myself hoping for the next song to be better. That being said, Nightwork does have its enjoyable moments, for example, the grandiose 37 seconds of blastbeats that is "Stampys Blaster", along with "Factions" being the closest to 'insanity with a purpose'. The second disc may be a grower, as I hope, so my rating might change in the next few listens.

Edit: It's a grower

Another edit: It's a huge grower. Disregard both paragraphs above. Both discs are excellent. Fanboy fanboy blah blah blah 8.5/10 bye.

Another goal from this music magician. Disc 2 was powerful as heck. Very assorted album on its proposal.

This was an amazing album. Well worth listening to both the discs. Devy's voice is like velvet. Stellar songs are strewn around all over the album like chocolate chips. The first song moonpeople is the cherry on top.

Magnifiecent album. It is so soothing, and peaceful. I thought I was going to miss the more extreme moments from the previous album after two soft tracks, but in the end I loved every second of that soft album. Devin did it again.
