The Midwives Of Doom continue on their victory streak started two albums ago, and Omen X stands out as a manifest of everything this band is about: industrial riffs, heavy beats, 90s Eurodance, and anthemic, harsh vocals. It is equally headbangable and danceable, and a sheer blast to listen to.

Well, I expected a lot from this disco-metal beast, but this is out of my expectations. King is back. They are successfully putting all that they have learned through the years and mix it with the classic Hoitovirhe industrial sound and the result is so good. Year 2023 just started and there is a potential album of the year.

This band is pretty big in Finland but I was still surprised when it got deal with Nuclear Blast. I was hoping it would evolve their sound but at least I don't hear much improvement. Still solid release and I enjoyed Verestä Sokea, Isä Meidän and Kuolettavia Vammoja songs. Last song has so familiar melody that I'm pretty sure it's inspired from some 90's disco hit but I can't figure it out

For me this is something of a guilty pleasure. I don't necessarily think they're any bad, but I can still remember when people laughed at and mocked you for liking them, since Kätilöt didn't sound like most other metal bands and they had very absurd lyrics. I think they're cool and right kind of crazy, during some show about a decade ago there was some couple performing oral sex on the stage while the band performed naked. It was a huge scandal and the band got fined for that, but at the end they only benefited from the debacle.

Yes, they attributed it to a misunderstanding, they just wanted strippers... For a 13+ aged show.

This was ok I think when it comes to industrial Finnish bands I prefer Ruoska. But this was surprisingly ok.

This isn't their best but it's definitely a good one.
The album is structured really well, I like it more the further it goes along because it and many of its songs are growers. I enjoy it but I wish there was a little more to bring me back. Some songs could have been better but none of them are bad by any means. There is a lot of dissonance in the album which makes the catchy parts really shine. The vocal and musical layers are excellent with so much to mentally dissect. I love their older albums but with Global Warning and Omen X I think they have have achieved their best production sound ever. The best part of Omen X is that after 10 albums you can feel that this band is just as passionate as ever with what they are doing.

Standout tracks for me were Käy Tanssiin, Puoli Valtakuntaa, Sormenjälki, and Vie Se Pois but really the album flows well enough to make the whole thing a fun ride.
