Some people like their death metal to be blackened, or technical, or melodic, or symphonic, or progressive, or atmospheric, or brutal. A rare group of people want their death metal to have a little bit of all the above options, and those ambitious few are likely to be thrilled by the new release from The Arcane Order.

At nearly an hour in length, they set themselves a challenge in justifying that runtime, and I think they do here; I'm pretty consistently engaged by the proggy, symphy, groovy, death(-adjacent) stuff they're doing here. It doesn't fall into an easy pigeonhole, even though it's clearly rooted in death metal, and has a decent level of variety

It's a devastatingly heavy release that certainly has a lot going for it. I wouldn't say it's the most melodic approach, but some of the lead guitar work is pretty cool, and it's hugely symphonic which at times reminds me of Behemoth, especially as there's a slight blackened approach.

It's least melodic, more of prog and sympho.... Not of my taste. But production is neat.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

For a band with barely 1000 monthly listeners on Spotify, the production value on this is crazy good. I very much enjoyed this album. The vocals were superbly done, guitars were sick and enjoyed the symphonic parts a lot. These guys deserve more exposure!

I totally agree with the comment saying that they justify the length here. And it’s a big achievement because the album is quite monolithic, and I’m usually rather bored by long albums. This album displays such brutality throughout, but is able to do it in different ways. The singing for me is a highlight in this album, it is so powerful. This is becoming one of my favourite death metal albums atm. Pure energy and intensity.
