I am glad they re-recorded this one and Morbid Visions. You can actually hear the riffs now, the brothers are better players than they were back then, but they have retained the brutality of the old sound. I have to say that I appreciate these releases more now because of these re-recordings. This is so superior death/thrash compared to anything that comes out today, it's not even funny. The previously unreleased "Sexta Feira 13" is fantastic. And Eliran Kantor nailed the artwork.

A Real Mönkey
Yeah I rip on Sepultura’s early stuff a lot but I really do dig the re-recordings. Sounds so much fuller and better in comparison it’s actually ridiculous.

I'm genuinely a fan of Sepultura's early recording and I still think they are somewhat underrated compared to some of the other extreme metal that had been released at the time. The bravado and savagery found in their debut EP and full length is undeniable. The music was very basic though and didn't need that good of a production (specially when you think about the war metal scene that used works like this one or by bands like Sarcofago as inspiration). But that didn't matter as much considering how brutal the result ended up being.

It does make sense to recreate these works however. A lot of water has passed. And Cavalera not sucking as much as he did in his first years post-Sepultura makes for a promising release. For "academic" reasons I do find it very enjoyable to properly dissect the riffing. I'm not fully sold on the production on the drums. Igor hits like a beast but the sound itself is almost "too clean" at times.
I'm a huge fan of the bass though. Nice to hear it much more now. Antichrist in particular fucking rips. Same goes for Max's vocals which is interesting cuz I enjoyed his rebelious and amateur cries in the original work. But the darker tone on this re-working feels much more diabolical. Also the re-worked intro on Necromancer gave me a boner (It already did with the old version, even from the even older ass demo version that came before the EP). I really like how all the songs are nicely tied together with ambient sound. It does make it a whole lot cooler, specially the way Necromancer leads to Warriors Of Death. "Sexta Feira 13" is a cool addition too. Although it feels lighter and less evil than the previous tracks. A great idea I must say. And I can totally see myself getting this on vinyl. The artwork is, indeed, hella well done.

Now let's see how they tackle Morbid Visions...

Articulately done! Yet I like the Morbid Visions better. It's not unrelated to the fact that I didn't like the Original EP as much either.
