Good doom album, song writing, half growish vocals, I like it

Wow... this is my first time listening to these guys, and I've probably found my AOTY.
What a fantastic year for death doom metal bands: Runemagick,Shores Of Null,Fires In The Distance,October Tide, all have released great albums, and I haven't listened to Kaunis Kuolematon yet!

Same here, this was a huge surprise for me! One of the best Doom albums this year for sure. If you haven’t caught the albums from Lithik and Saturnus I highly recommend those as well

Yes, you are right, I completely forgot about Saturnus, but perhaps that's because I didn't like it too much. That other band, Lithik - frankly speaking I've never heard of them, but I will check it

I got same problem like with the Saturnus album. It's boring. Each and every aspect of this album is top class: vocals, guitars, drums, production, writing, melodies... But when it's all put together it doesn't sound right with me. I think I will put it away for some time and try again in few weeks

In some way yes (not saturnus) but this is problem for older bands and older people. Young people somehow and young bands manmade do it better.

Well it sounds stupid but when you're older you dont care much , you cant do same as young and its whit music, band can write 3-5 albums , then they are not same , Weird.

AOFTY easily!!!

Easily one of the best melodic doom / death albums of the year. Raise Empires and Thorns of Fire are two of the year's best songs in the subgenre.

Mainstream sound, reminds me of new septicflesh. Music is nice but boring and doesn't convey the feelings I expect from doom and gothic. I imagine they are all good musicians and have good production, but this is empty shell.

I could enjoy it the three times I listened to it, but, don't get me wrong - and to be very clear: I don't usually have any issues regarding this when it comes to subgenres like doom metal - in the end, I felt like the whole disc was just a long good song. Nothing more. That's why I gave it a 7. Lack of variation, growth and boldness.

This doesn't sound like On Thorns I Lay at all! It seems like a completely different band. WTF happened?
