Better than expected! Don't Look Down reminds me of some of those old sounds.

Not sure where Mikael Ammot lives, USA, Germany, and fact I don't like bands current and previous singer. I disagree whit some that it's sold out. Good melodic death metal. Death riffs, melodic riffs, growls, clean vocals. In each new bands album there is something what makes think it's damn good banger.

I am pissed, lustened at work on YouTube, damn reklam after each song. I could wait to be at home and listen band camp album I bought

She makes me miss Angela. I heard shitty stories about both but the stories about Alyssa in Agonist I think she's got Angela beat. TikTok Crop top rock. Not enough songs about facing adversity and overcoming hurdles this time around

I've never been a massive fan of this band but at least found some of their work reasonable. This on the other hand is just plain dull and uninspiring. After several spins nothing is resonating with me and I can't really see it being much of a grower tbh.

They have always sounded generic to me, but this one is a special case for sure. The cleans and the euro-rock aesthetic on tracks like Illuminate the Path is especially bad.
Also, I'm no expert , but the harsh vocals sound fake AF to me. Hard pass

As generic as it goes, it always lend an ear to Arch Enemy. This one is pretty bland though. I kinda enjoy Speak No Evil. But I'm really hyper surprised by the cover of Blaspheme's Vivre Libre, how the hell can this exist ? Quite an obscure band. They should have picked another song too, Blaspheme's album is quite funny

Even though not a big fan of them since their post-Angela era, I always check their albums. It is not bad but not that impressive either. I think the problem is that the style of music is outdated and It does not even sound Gothenburg style in big part of the album. The “technical” parts give more of a watered down Bodom vibe, and tracks like Vivre Libre are so unnecessary, especially when you do not have a singer that can support such a style. The Pendulum sounds more like something I would expect from Sonata Arctica too. Not bad, but lacks identity as an Arch Enemy album.

A really solid album for me, despite paper tiger and Vivre Libre nearly derailing the album. Paper tiger is the weakest link on this album for sure. Vivre Libre isn't bad exactly, but I would have preferred it at the end of the album instead of disrupting the flow.

I'll decide on my stands outs once I've given it a few more spins. But it's more enjoyable then the last album for sure

True, but you don't have to be an expert to realize that pretty much everything here sounds fake AF. From the vocals, to the extremely compressed guitars or the inhumanly perfect drum grooves always perfectly on the beat. Guys, this is the result of lots of digital editing and post-production work. Real instruments don't sound like this. It's a mystery to me how people can believe that these bands really play how they sound on records

01. Dream Stealer - [10/10] My favourite opening track by Arch Enemy (2nd Enemy Within, 3rd Blood On Your Hands)
02. Illuminate The Path - [9/10] Love the "trance" begining and it has got great chorus with great cleans
03. March Of The Miscreants - [10/10] Might be my favourite track not counting the singles - Great turns, a bit proggy
04. A Million Suns - [5/10] I like the opening riff but I can't stand the chorus - becouse of that I just skip this track, worst on this album
05. Don't Look Down [9/10] Energetic song with thrash elements, I really like Alissa's vocals on chorus
06. Presage
07. Blood Dynasty - [8.5] I admit that as a single I just brushed it off but now after couple of listens I really like it , musically fells sinister and urgent
08. Paper Tiger [6/10] Not bad, not good - the second and last skip from this album
09. Vivre Libre [8.5/10] Many people don't like it but I think it's nice - great vocals plus french language
10. The Pendulum [8/10] A bit "broken" groove and a power metal chorus - happily it's on the good side
11. Liars & Thieves [9/10] Very good as a closing track, thrashy with section combining power metal and clean vocals
--- Overall [8.3/10] ---

12. Break The Spell - [9/10] Mid paced song with "mean" main riff
13. Moths - [10/10] Love the main riff and chorus with somber music/feeling - the best chorus on the album.

Replace "A Million Suns" and "Paper Tiger" with those bonuses and it's --- [9.1/10] ---

Halfway through the first track I thought, “this really isn’t as bad as people made it out to be”…then I heard the rest. Most of it is fairly passable, if not slightly enjoyable, but those choruses…they’re clearly trying very hard to write crowd-pleasing tracks – anthems? – and it really does not become them. I haven’t heard any of the releases from this band in a decade or so, but I don’t think I’ve been missing much.

That's pretty much how they've been writing music since Rise Of The Tyrant and unfortunately it never really worked (for me at least). Khaos Legions is especially bad with this, it has some downright insufferable choruses that really break the flow of the songs.

I just got to see them live in Portland a week ago! Love the album! Love seeing them alive. They have so much energy on stage!

Cover song is the best one on the album. In fact, it's the only good song. That says a lot...
