Wilhelm by Decline Of The I is an intense, shape-shifting beast – blending black metal’s rawness with post-metal twists, close-to avant-garde undertones, and eerie atmospheres – gradually pulling you deeper and deeper into a dark, atmospheric realm. I love the atmosphere, but I kept losing interest quickly because of how safe they play each song. I couldn’t feel or pinpoint any climax (that I can recall) which is essential for post-metal. There are certainly a few highlights in most songs but those are quickly lost in the context of the whole song.
