Really? I think this album actually typifies what is lacking in the metalcore scene.

Like diversity and ideas?
Metalcore or not, I like this album...

"The Air That I Breathe" is a powerful song. Catchy guitar riffs and the lyrics are a creed to live by.

I think this is the staple metalcore album. For a genre so wrought with filth, to have a gem like this outstanding is almost unheard of. Very few bands in the genre can compete, August Burns Red and Between The Buried And Me to name a few.

It's because of Shannon Lucas being the drummer and Adam Dutkewicz being the producer.

Still, neither of them would have saved this album if Phil had his head in his ass like he does lately, though yes, both the production and the drumming defo contribute to this album's awesomness.

My personal favorite metalcore album. And I don't really like metalcore at all.

I don't understand how this album is relatively well regarded, sounds like generic metalcore to me, and I don't hate the genre or anything. Protest the Hero, BTBAM, Dillinger, and All Shall Perish's "The Price of Existence" are much better examples of this genre imo

It's definitely a generic sound, but it's one where they managed to deliver a solid amount of memorable choruses, at least compared to their other material. I definitely don't think it's the best of the standard metalcore albums, but it's a solid entry imo, and given the quality of much of their discog, it stands out more I think.

That makes sense, maybe I'll give it a couple more spins and see, I usually agree with your reviews
