Most of the songs here are very relaxing, in the way that none of the instruments are used for a harder edge, as found on previous releases such as 'Aqualung' and even 'Heavy Horses'. However, what is not missing here is Anderson's penchant for more than just a few well-handled flute solos, as well as some brilliantly structured songs. The band probably wouldn't get much better musically after this album, but 'Stormwatch' is yet another reason to listen to 70's Progressive Rock.

This is the third album in their concept album trilogy: Songs from the Wood, Heavy Horses, and this, Stormwatch. IMO, Songs from the Wood is the strongest of the three, but both Heavy Horses and Stormwatch are both excellent additions to the Tull catalog. In addition to the two previously mentioned highlights, "Orion," and "Dark Ages" are also both excellent tracks. I do enjoy the whole album, but those four tracks are definitely the highlights. JT's sound became more progressive after the three concepts.

I never really got into this one, it was a great idea for a concept, with some some decent enough songs like "Orion", "Dark Ages" and "North Sea Oil", but the rest to me was kind of bland, I felt musically it's a step down from Songs From The Wood, and Heavy Horses. IMO anyway.

I checked it again in case I had missed something. And, no way this song is their best
