This band rocked my world sometime in mid-February. I tried making some noise about their brilliant creation called Black Future but nothing less than a review will do justice to this thrash combo from Arizona. Vektor made an album that combines heaviness and melody in a new, fresh way. The dudes can shred (oh yes!), but it's not wankery. They can play beautiful acoustic passages and incorporate ambient breaks, and not for one second do they sound boring. They throw in prog and black, and their thrash is so natural and unpretentious, it's hard to believe. And the vocals… are… sick. David Disanto mixes classic black metal singing with some occasional unearthly high-pitched screams making his voice undeniably recognizable.

Yawn. Nothing here we haven't seen on Puppets Sell, But Who's Reigning? Exodus did all this way better 70 years ago. I say that because Vektor are beating the proverbial thrash metal horse to death.

Or are they?

What a great album. Maybe Accelerating Universe, 2009' best thrash metal song.

This album is INSANE with its technicality, heavy riffs, and badass sci-fi lyrics... and to think this is their debut album!
Now that the band is coming together again, I'm looking forward to more "thrashterpieces"!

I agree with Troy on the vocals being a big turn-off. Wasn't really special to me overall.

Vocals completely turned me off of this one.

My thought exactly, the vocals ruin the otherwise interesting rhythm section and guitar work, making it impossible to enjoy the whole thing for me.

Outstanding album from one of the best modern thrash bands. You could listen to this album a hundred times and still discover something new (learning the songs on guitar is especially interesting - they are very talented and creative musicians without straying too far from the thrash sound).

9.3/10 for me - the title track and Forests Of Legend are the standout tracks. Hunger For Violence, Deoxyribonucleic Acid, Dark Nebula, and Accelerating Universe are also great.

How could you forget the headbanging-inducing majesty of "Destroying the Cosmos" - the chorus, the solos...?

The chorus riff and solos are fantastic but the song as a whole just isn't as good as the ones I mentioned IMO
