It’s funny BE because those bands are three of my favorite because of the change in sound. I like the songwriting of those bands and enjoy hearing it in different genres. Just a different take.
Definitely an interesting album. Pretty different from their studio albums. Tolkien's influence here is massive, both in case of the lyrics as well as the music itself.
One of their most atmospheric efforts for sure. Really relaxing stuff.
The first thing I heard by them and by far the only thing at that time hooking me to when I wasn't getting engrained through their stuff on first listen. My longest flaw was how I could engage in specific songs than whole albums.
What I would do for them to make a whole album of work like Saruman....
Actually, this was mine and perhaps many mores gateway into the earliest Dungeon Synth, knotted with Hliðskjálf.

I may not have the largest collection but I certainly have the absolute best
Both songs are very nice, with a calm synthetic atmosphere, a nice change not in Summoning's usual style. voice over/narration is very appealing to Tolkien fans like myself.
Fuck it, it's going in the collection. This seller happened to have the certain
Green
edition I desired alongside Blood Geometry, which is always satisfying to tie up loose ends because fuck procrastination. I wouldn't quite call this atmospheric black metal.
Please Summoning, make an album of this in which you go full-on funeral doom dungeon synth, not that you closely did do before.

Now that would be something actually worth listening to from this band.
Don't miss the dark ambient / dungeon synth demo from 1996 "Mirkwood" that Silenius worked on, but never officially released. However, there is a full version on YouTube... enjoy!

Cheers, been looking for this era and style of them. I really believe this stripped sound is tremendously overlooked since the band's basis of sound to me comes from a doom metal-dungeon synth formula with style of atmospheric and symphonic black.
