Outside of his purely ambient works, this is the most subtle album by Paysage d'Hiver. Sure, there are some moments of blasting intensity but they are scarce under the light of the 73 minuters of this album. It has surprisingly drone-like attributes in the guitars as this album is much slower than the others and very doomy in its approach. Some of the drums seem to be human as well giving an extra oomph to it. Also clearer production which does lots of favors for this album in particular. A highlight in his discography. No doubt.

Wintherr did it once again, another masterpiece from the king.
this work is themed after Night but it can well be winter. for all means the atmosphere is all here.

in track 1 you get a snow blizzard, the typical hummings of the wind side by side with the low synthetizers lost in the void. by the end of the song the agonizing poet tells you´re in for a bad time. track 2 appears. the blastbeats of the kvltest black shows you the despair as just begun. melodic, fast riffs distilled raw, paysage d´hiver style. you get blown away.

track 3 is a total break down, slow, dying riffs but still maintain the overall mood. you think is all over, you find your way out of the blizzard, but them terror comes. now you´re thinking you won´t get out of here alive. track 4 enters strong, powerful but still slow, just enough to freeze. then the furious beats arise once again, they won´t stop. in the grand finale, the fast fading riff tells you the end is near. you have been caught.
