I third that notion. I hope this'll be better than that generic Human Monsters EP though.

Just finished listening to the album, and even for Macabre, it's incredibly varied! There's more melody than ever before, and the band members' individual talents shine brigher on this album than anything else they've ever done. I'll listen to it some more to let some songs really sink in, but there were some instant highlights. "Nero's Inferno", has a very Italian sound, which Im sure was totally deliberate. lol Even Corporate Death puts on a mock Italian voice to add to the effect. Catchy and macabre as hell! xD "Mary Ann" is incredibly melodic, almost ballad like, and Corporate Death actually has a decent melodic voice, and plays some awesome solos in the song. I think out of all the songs, this is the one that will grab the most attention, be that negative or positive. Me, I absolutely love it! <3

The band are still adept at some vicious aural violence, which can be heard on tracks like "Burke And Hare", "Kiss Of Death", and the crushing death-come-punk-come-thrash attack of "The Sweet Tender Meat Vendor". Overall, I think this is a great album by the guys and a stunning display of their musicianship. Its a shame it comes out next year, or it would be a contender for my album of the year! xD

Wow, pretty original stuff. Definitely not something that you hear every day. As AS said, it's really varied and rather melodic, but it still caught me off guard, especially the Grindcore tag I see here

I can see why if this is the first album somebody hears from Macabre, they'd be scratching their heads about that. It is too simplistic, and not terribly accurate to label Macabre as merely grindcore. The further they've progressed through their career, the harder it's became to put a label on them. They are at heart, an extreme band. But they've incorported elements from many genres into their sound over the years. Heck, they even released an album of all acoustic songs! (under the name of "Macabre Minstrels") The band themselves, class their genre as "murder metal". (a term they made up themselves) And I think it is right they have their own genre, because they really cant be pigeonholed into a single genre, or even 2 genres.

Their latest is their most varied yet. And I really admire their willingness and ability to stand out from the crowd.

hmmm... not quite, especially the lyrics. But when I think of Bob Dylan (I have not listened to him for ages and ages though), I think of his eccentric but at the same time laid back musical style. His harmonica is quite southern... Thunder on the mountain is quite southern too imo. That being said, I don't know much about southern music :p
