I know this probably the last truly great album from led zeppelin in some people's eyes, but i didn't mind #presence' to be honest. It's just that this one had so much to offer that it was almost too much to take in all at once.

The first disc is far superior to the second I think. Very good album. Only surpassed by their classic, IV.

The reason it's so messy and all-over-the-place is that half the songs were new (the longer songs, basically) and the other half were older songs and outtakes from sessions for previous Zeppelin albums. As a result some of it feels like filler, especially the fourth side since it lacks a major statement.
I don't mind it though, it is a double album after all and those are rarely restrained. This is a great album, and part of its appeal is hearing Zeppelin throw all kinds of different things and styles at you.

Some very good points you've raised and I agree with you entirely.

I didn't like it as teenager, but since days when there was no I net and we have what we have I did play it sometimes, now
seems band became some old folks, pensioner oriented rock? soft, weird, only what it has from Led Z is Robert's voice and bands name make sit n higher grounds as if other band... I think if band start whit this , they never be into glory ....
Only song I like is House Of The Holy, lyrical parts ''Let me take you to the movies. Can I take you to the show'' and ''LET THE MUSIC BR YOUR MASTER'' --- because it is, I worship it, Iam fallen for music , its my true love .----

Just got the vinyl for Christmas and it's actually a really impressive work! I love the different styles being thrown at you all at once, makes for a very diverse listen. Some of my favorite tracks are "Trampled Under Foot," "Kashmir," and "Ten Years Gone." I view this album as being like The White Album for The Beatles, where even some of the weaker songs just add to the whole experience and the entire album would be different without it (though I think "Boogie with Stu "could be removed and it wouldn't affect my enjoyment of this album). Great stuff all around.

A very divided album - Disc 1 is a masterpiece and one of their best releases while Disc 2 is amongst their worst releases IMO.
Disc 1: 9.5/10
Disc 2: 7.3/10
Overall: 8.2/10

I completely agree, they should of stuck with disc one, and Kashmir is one of their best songs, if not their best IMO.

Absolutely. No real standout songs on disc 2, but Kashmir is definitely one of their best.
