Just finished listening to the full length version of this, and if the whole album is of a similar style and quality, this will definitely be the best thing Edguy have released in a long time! It's back to the more epic power metal style of "Mandrake" with a little bit of the straight ahead heaviness of "Hellfire Club". To me, Edguy have not released a great album since Hellfire... but this might just be Edguy returning to the style that made them so awesome in the first place! xD

After listening to the new song i agree with you about a great quality, they haven't done a song like this for a while. But i wouldn't say it's a mix of mandrake and hellfire club. What they did in hellfire was much different from all the other albums, you can hear it clearly..... in my opinion the new album is between mandrake and tinnitus sanctus, which is great though, actually it's what i was expecting. Don't know why, but after seeing the artwork on the cover months ago, i was sure they are going back to the mandrake feeling

The difference between Hellfire and all their other albums, is it's overall, less epic in feel than the previous albums. And a couple of songs aside, is more metal and less rock than the 2 albums that came after it. So it's almost like a bridge album between the more epic, power metal Edguy, and the more hard rock orientated Edguy. Robin Hood for the most part, is pure "Mandrake" era Edguy, with the majestic build up of the intro riff, the verse, the tense pre chorus, and the song arrangement. The chorus itself has more of an Avantasia feel, mainly due to the poppy backing vocals (which is the only part of the song I don't like, save that stuff for Avantasia Tobi, not Edguy!)

The riffing near the solo section is reminiscent of the heavier Tinnitus stuff, but it's the outro that reminds so much of "Hellfire Club". It's dramatic, and heavy, and really doesn't go on for long enough! It gives a feeling of the song ending before it's supposed to... I really think they could have done with making a proper ending out of that part. Overall though, Im really hoping the quality of this song is an indicator of the quality of the album. If it is, it will easily be the best thing they've done in quite a while.

Nice observation, just like i've been given a lesson on a music class like the way you think.... the song really does seem a style between hard rock edguy and metal edguy, but we can't be sure the whole album is going to be this way. When i heard the sample songs on their official site, considering the choruses in each song, i was like :" yeah, seems like tinnitus sanctus 2", (which was ok for me, since tinnitus doesn't seem so a bad album as some "fans" described so), but the full length song much stronger than the chorus itself. When you left a previous comment saying that it reminds you of mandrake-hellfire after listening to the full length song, god i was excited to hear it..... and yeah, so far i like the new album, it surprised me!
