Omit is a funeral doom band that highlights its female vocalist. Their tracks are long, their tunes are pretty solemn, and I don't know what bands to compare them to. I'm sure similar stuff has been done before, but by whom and when I can't say. Their style isn't one that generally interests me.

Nevertheless, I like Repose. It's the sort of album that's executed well enough to get people to leave whatever debauched, beer-soaked metal alleys they're more comfortable with to wander uptown to hear.

At first the female vocals turned me off but once I got used to it and had the chance to focus on the music, the album was really rewarding.

The music is wonderful. It was really weird the first time I listened to this, mixing strong female vocals with atmospheric funeral doom, but once you appreciate the total package it is - as you said - quite rewarding.

There is this strong Mournful Congregation-ish moment in the song Insolence, it is breathtaking

Insolence

'Tis a beautiful closing track. As stated before, it's very much funeral doom in the way it sounds, but the clean female vocals make for a much lighter approach. It's really a fantastic juxtaposition of extremity and tranquility.

My only problem with the album as a whole is it leaves me wondering what I should be feeling. Do I focus on the extreme isolation or do I let myself drift away in solitude? Musically I'd give it a 9 but it gets a 7.5 from me because it fails to help me make up my mind.

I like feeling concrete about something, or at least knowing what I'm supposed to be feeling.

I agree, it is unbalanced in some sort of way but I actually liked the "calming vs. crushing" sense that it has. my complaint is that Fatigue and Insolence stand really higher in quality above the rest of the tracks, it is as if they did not put enough thought in the other three tracks leaving them a lot less impressive imo
and again the extreme isolation and the realms of solitude are two faces for the same coin

Wow...just wow.

This album is wonderful. Over 85 minutes of extremely slow atmospheric doom that makes me enter an almost dreamlike state, forgetting everything around me. Cecilie Langlie's beautiful and melancholic vocals together with the symphonic elements adds so much to the atmosphere.

Omit reminds me a lot of other great doom bands hailing from Norway, specifically early The 3rd and the Mortal and Funeral, and they are without a doubt able to compete with said bands masterpieces. Repose has made a real impact on me and is one of the best doom metal albums I have heard in a very long time.
