I like to imagine the guys in Wilderun were all sitting around the dinner table, probably with some really fantastic beer in one hand and a leg of lamb in the other hand. One of them says, "I used to love folk metal but these days it's getting lame; everyone is doing the same tired shit over and over." "Yeah?" say the other guys to nods of agreement. They all rip a bite of lamb off the bone and contemplate this statement. One guy has an epiphany and breaks the silence with, "What if? what if we made a folk metal album that wasn't lame? What if we just did things a little differently?" Everyone's chewing slows to a halt. They stare at him, wide-eyed and mystified. "Tell us more, brother..."

It changes constantly but as of THIS MOMENT: Wilderun are #3 on the MS Top Albums of 2012 list and one of only two indie bands on the whole list Talk about proud.

Remember your awesome indie bands come MS Awards time! You're witnessing the future of metal

My feels with Cormorant last year. Except that they were not my discovery and they ended up on my top 5 of all time. I was proud when they won the cover art contest too. INDIES for the win!

"Suncatcher" and "Storm Along" are splendid. Nice progressive folk and a pleasant exception in the genre.

I can't actually find anything wrong with this album other than that it comes to an end!

Turisas meets Dream Theater?

I'd say more Turisas meets Opeth. Vocals sound just like Mathias Nygård or Mikael Åkerfeldt at times.

Definitely, this album and the band are freakin' great and noone knows it. I'm not complaining for it, actually the situation should remain like this.

Parts of this sound like one of those theatrical avant-garde bands. The album seems to get better as it goes.
