Sigh No More is the second release of Gamma Ray, after their debut Heading For Tomorrow, and with its weird cover, it is also a weird album. The line-up is once again different, introducing Uli Kusch on drums, with still Uwe Wessel on bass, Dirk Schlachter appears playing the guitar, while the duet Kai/Ralf is at its best.

Not Kai's hottest work, but Scheepers does a great Axl Rose on "Father & Son".

Well, this is not the typical Gamma Ray album. Clearly Judas Priest was a huge influence to this music. The album starts with "Changes" like "Sad Wings of Destiny" started with "Victim of Changes" - coincidence? I think not. Obviously the album is meant as a tribute to JP as it's more in heavy metal direction than the usual Gamma Ray power metal stuff. Sure it's not the most unique album out there and the music isn't that impressive either, but I have to admit that there is some quality in these songs.

Well, I clearly prefer Insanity and genius as well as Heading for tomorrow to this one.
That said, this is not a bad album. It has some nice cheesy songs. Changes is excellent. I like One with the world, too.
Around 7.3 for me.

This album is not their most interesting but its still very enjoyable. I also deeply cherish the Ralph era of gamma ray a lot.

I like the track "Start Running" and "Dreamhealer" however, I prefer the remake of "Dreamhealer" where vocals were performed by Kai. Ralf didn't fit Gamma Ray's music. Listen to him in Primal Fear and judge. It's just so interesting that a top tier vocalist can sound mediocre with a different band. Kai sounds 10 times better than Raf in Gamma Ray although Ralf is obviously the better singer and technically more proficient.

Not sure about the dislike about this one. It's solid all the way through, even presenting some excellent speed in As Time Goes By (co-written by the great Piet Sielck) and Start Running. I like the kind of goofyness in the lyrics (also present in the previous and following album) and how it's not the overly dramatic serious approach that seemed to become the norm from Land of the Free and onward. And yeah Ralf is such an awesome singer (showcases best on the Lust for Live album), he was a true powerhouse.

It's better than I remember it was years ago, and I like it a bit more than debut. Just overall more songs caught my attention this time, especially: "As Time Goes By", "Start Running", "Changes" and "Dream Healer". I agree with the opinion that this is more a Heavy Metal album, but a pretty good one, nonetheless.
