Tech death bands usually come in two sorts: you've got the "listen to me" types, where every member fucks around competing over the listener's attention, and then you have the "listen to us" types who don't make abysmal music. Decapitated has always been part of the second group.

Beware, the brand new song is streaming online:

Not a big fan of the vocals. Instrumentally nothing interesting either.

I don't like the way the guitars are mixed. It's still an O.K. song I guess. Not too exciting.

Groove is the album's strong point - unfortunately it's pretty generic groove.

I just don't get it. I never really understood why people hate Carnival Is Forever. I loved that album and I still listen to it regularly. This new one is a step even further away from technical death metal but I love it nonetheless. \m/

It could be hit or miss. Intially, my impression was biggest letdown record of this year(considering they would've done at least better than Carnival) but did not deliver to their caliber. But, as with few more spins I realise that Decapitated try to do something different this time as opposed to do what they were doing up to now. While listening to (new formulae decapitated executed on this)album, I'm sure many people will try to embrace it.

I understand this stepdown but "Blood Mantra" has something different to offer.

Looks like I like every album recorded by Decapitated. This last one included.
It sounds slightly different from previous ones, and again this time I really enjoyed the lyrics, way better than the average death metal ones...

I quite like this album. Some sweet groove-laden riffage, diverse songwriting, and technical prowess. Not their masterwork but a worthwhile jam regardless. Average vocals however.

I really don't know why this album is rated like that by all the users here . Sure..they are not the band that many of us loved in the past but they have evolved into something that is still powerfull . Yes the vocals sound a little bit weak but the songwriting is top notch .

I really enjoyed this. Definitely a 7.75+/10 kind of album.
If Gojira, LOG or Meshuggah had written some of these riffs everybody would be fanboying. But since it's Decapitated it's "not as gud cuz it's not tek-deth enuff".
Nest is one of my favorite tracks here. The Blasphemous Psalm to the Dummy God Creation sounds like something from Meshuggah's ObZen.
Blindness is very very unique. Fantastic atmosphere. Sounds a bit like it could be on Meshuggah's Koloss.
The bonus track "Moth Defect" is probably THE BEST track here (and most tech-death one), absolutely KILLER. This album is VERY good for anyone coming here with an open mind.
