An American band that plays good black metal? There are not many, and even though Sannhet orchestrates what certainly can be labeled as "hipster" black metal (had to say it), they are pretty unique in that they have no vocals. Think Deafheaven, Altar Of Plagues or Regarde Les Hommes Tomber but without the desolate, shrieking and chthonic black metal singing.

I think I remember liking 'Known Flood'. I'll have to revisit it. Thanks for the update Alex.

The Flenser (the label releasing this album) has a short info paragraph about the album on their website

Quote:
Sannhet's second full-length, Revisionist, is set for release on March 3rd via San Francisco's Flenser Records. The 9-track LP is a dizzying concoction of math-metal intricacy, prismatic pop shimmer, and dense metallic crush, taking the metalgaze sound of like minded modern metal combos like Deafheaven or Alcest and adding more dynamic indie rockisms and churning noise rock crunch.

I am incredibly intrigued by that description

Didn't find anything special about it, it's been nice just for one listen and that's it.

Count me in the minority that thinks this is good stuff. One of the more black metal takes on post-metal (rather than the multitude of glorified sludge bands with harsh vocals that everyone raves on about). The balance of post-rock shimmeriness works really nicely on the blackened background.

Quite good although I'm not the fan of instrumental music I used to be. It really depends on my mood. Still, these guys are one of the better "post-black" groups to come around. Interesting and dynamic enough throughout to keep me listening.
