I was lucky to be 14 years old when Rust In Peace came out, the album that many consider to be the best thrash release that has ever seen the light of day. Followed by a couple of very good records, Dave Mustaine and co. spent the next 20 years or so giving us music that ranged from not so impressive to very disappointing (with the exception of Endgame's pleasant surprise). So, what do Megadeth have in store for us in 2016?

Decent, but as expected from a band like Megadeth, the rating is bigger than the quality. Two good things, Mustaine sounds more natural now when he sings and Kiko's solos kick ass.

The Threat is Real and Conquer or Die are the best tracks. Dystopia and Fatal Illusion are ok. The rest is mediocre and mostly forgetable.

Megadeth are back Considering Super Collider and Th1rt3en, Dystopia is a big positive suprise for me. Do not be mistaken, it's not old school Megadeth tone, it's a very refreshing new sound, which marks another (long awaited) classic entry in Megadeth's discography. I have listen new album couple of times over and over and my opinion is that it's full of melodies and catchy riffs. Therefore, Dystopia is their best album since Endgame, maybe even better.
I dont know what they have done to Dave's voice, but it's sound pretty cool. I hope that's his true voice Several songs I just love already after hearing them couple of times: Bullet To The Brian, Post American World and Poisonous Shadows.
The influence of the new band members is evident. This album is specific and stands for it's self, it shouldn't be compared to any other album.
Neverthless, this is my humble top list of Megadeth albums:

1. Rust In Peace '90
2. Peace Sells...But Who's Buying '86
3. Youthanasia '94
4. Countdown To Extinction '92
5. Killing Is My Business...And Business Is Good '85
6. The System Has Failed '04
7. So Far, So Good... So What! '88
8. Endgame '09
9. United Abominations '07
10. The World Needs A Hero '01
11. Cryptic Writings '97
12. Th1rt3en '11
13. Risk '99
14. Super Collider '13
For now, Dystopia '16 is hovering somewhere between 6.,7. and 8. spot.

Note that this is my opinion and in some cases when i am in dilemma, some albums are rated higher then they deserve, because they have more songs compare to other albums, also some albums have special moment for me. For example: The System Has Failed (12 songs) over So Far, So Good... So What! (8 songs).

Overall Megadeth are back, new Dystopia is a very good album. Still listening...

I would add a 3rd one: it feels like there's a change in guitars tuning (maybe standard D?) which makes most riffs sound a lot heavier than typical Megadeth. It doesn't necessarily make the album better but it does renew their sound a bit.

Sounds fine but jeez, the lyrics are still so retarded. I don't expect from rock stars to understand how the world works but Dave is really out there with his conspiracy bullshit. I preferred when it was about UFOs in Area 51, his political stuff is just cringe worthy.

I am impressed, decent album, now megadeth is bigger band as metallica, I did not expect it so good, last 2 were killed albums for band in such age and such history where all and most bands fails...2 songs were killed ones 1th and second, even band re wrote them selfs, this re wrote was full whit originality , maybe new line up?
I say I give this 9.6

Great album. Does it match the band's pre-1996 content? Not really, IMO the first 6 Mega albums were all quite different and innovative in their own ways. This one sounds a little too much like the last few albums. But it may be 'deth's best since Youthanasia.

One thing I find annoying is the crazy loudness levels. I prefer a cleaner sound like the old days. But everything else is gravy. Dave's voice sounds good and Kiko's guitar is impressive in its individuality, which is what makes Dave's guitar style so special as well.

now megadeth is bigger band as metallica,

Nope, they aren't. Metallica still easily sells out concerts where 50,000 people can attend whereas Megadeth doesn't even get 10,000 people to see them live.

Megadeth to me is band to see live from so called media created big 4, rest just can be ignored, only what musically writes something , not so good as 80's Meg whole disco after 80's are better even Cryptic Writings, Risk, The World Needs A Hero are bad and lame albums, then comes something good, and I think last 2 are ok not 80's but still deendt albums for this day... metallica back, then dead magnetic , but I like single meg better... well maybe we should re frase , what band writes better music, then answer will be Meg... seems you're right from other factors

I doubt I will see those bands live, and going to capital city or southern city near sea side , Black Sabbath, Swe rock fest yes, but see BIG 4 is not worst my money specially if I need fly to Göteborg,

I really wonder if he's not doing it on purpose. I can hardly believe that after all that time he can still write English so badly. I would have expected him to learn.
It doesn't bother me though. I'm used to it.

Yup. Nowadays when I read his stuff, I kind of feel like Cipher in the Matrix when he explains the code to Neo. Yeah, sure, first it was like watching a bunch of symbols cascade on the screen, but now all I can see is "good album", "bad album", "topic of interest", "navy seals" etc.

Good return to form (somewhat) and the best one since Endgame. Album starts off with a blast, loses some steam in the middle, but finishes strong.
