Definitely more heavy than thrash here, sounds quite good, better than I expected

On my 2nd listen now. This record is way better than I expected.
Fucking killer. It could even top Worship Music.

Topping "Worship Music" is extremely easy, because that album sucks balls like there's no tomorrow.
After several listens (who'd belive I'd give an Anthrax album several listens these days?), I'm pretty sure it's Anthrax's best release since "Sound of White Noise", or even "Persistence of Time". They'll probably never reach the level of "Spreading the Disease" or "Among the Living" again, but "For All Kings" seems to be as good as the band can get nowadays.
Almost every song on the album is good, perhaps 2-3 aren't. (Which is a huge step up from "Worship Music" which had only 3 good songs.) Some of the tracks are excellent - the title track, "You Gotta Believe", "Zero Tolerance", to name just a few.
I'm an old fan. I got to know Anthrax back in the 80's, and I still think that "Spreading the Disease" and "Among the Living" are untouchable. I hated what happened with the band after "Sound of White Noise" (I thought it was a very decent album). I thought I'd never say what I have to say now - Anthrax are good again.

Yeah I have now listened to For All Kings a bunch of times, and I have to agree with Daniell above - this is definitely their best record since SOWN. And I loved Worship Music, but this is more consistent.
The lead work by Jon Donais is just awesome and Joe Belladonna seems to just get better with age unlike any of his peers. His performance is outstanding. The usual tight as fuck rhythm of Bello / Ian / Benante is great.
Beast songs for me are You Gotta Believe (best song they've written for 20 years), Monster at the End, Zero Tolerance, Evil Twin, Suzerain, and Defend / Avenge.

Worship Music was a 10/10 for me. I cannot believe Anthrax topped that album. What is that, an 11/10?! Fucking fast, heavy, well written, well performed, heavy and balanced production, Joey's ridiculously powerful voice, riffage and solos out the wazoo, fast and complex drum patterns, and Frank's fucking monstrous rumbling bass tone. What an album. I highly recommend it. Metal album of the year thus far and I highly doubt anyone will top For All Kings for me. Anthrax just outclassed the rest of the Big 4 again in spades.

This is really really really really really good.
They outdid themselves this time.
Fucking awesome album!
Suzerain is a shitty song though. Very shitty.

I've listened to this twice and it isn't doing anything for me. I'm an Anthrax fan from way back so it bums me out. Bums me out even more that there's so many good ratings. I must be missing something. I'll have to give it a few more spins.
[edit] When I'm wrong I'll be the first to say. I guess I wasn't ready for this the first few times through. I'm a dumbass sometimes...well quite often actually. Though it's not their best, this fucker's pretty tight. I had to up my rating here after listening to it for days and realizing I can't put it away.

I put this on a par with Worship Music. Really enjoy the lead guitar solos by Jon Donais. I thought he'd do well with them, as most of the stuff he did with Shadows Fall was thrash. Love Joey's voice. Anthrax still delivering the goods so many years after their heyday. Hope they tour Australia!

Enjoying this more with each listen and little bit of added familiarity. Great to see an old favorite releasing such a solid record.

Yeah it's interesting - I was the same. First few listens I didn't know what to think of the record and I was thinking it was a 7/10 record. After listening to it a bunch of times now I love the record and put it right up there with Anthrax's best. Awesome stuff.

Fucking killer record. And Jon Donais is awesome on here.
Anthrax are by far the best of the Big 4 in 2016.

When I saw all the glowing reviews of this album, I really just assumed it was because it's a big name with high metal street cred and no-one wanted to be mean. I didn't anticipate the album actually being rather good, fair play Anthrax.

Having only listened to Among The Living, which I really disliked, I was shocked when this actually appealed to me. Such an improvement, especially in the vocal department - surprising given it's been nearly three decades. The chorus of "Monster At The End" is so damn gooooooood.
Guess I'll be checking the last album as well.

I loved to hate this band. And Bay metal in general. One day (I dont remeber even why) I said i should give this album a try. And I fucking love it.. It has so much energy in it, and they are grandpa-aged. Well done! This battle chose us is the best song of the album.

They're not Bay metal. They're from New York.

I guess you are right. But they sounded more "Bay" in general.. I am talking about their first albums mostly...

Not as thrashy as some of their other albums but that's fine with me (I love the Bush era albums). Top to bottom this is a killer riffy album full of emotion and stellar writing.

Average release.
Nothing charmed me except to forcefully drag myself to the end fetching moments Anthrax does apart from preceding releases.
