A well-executed sludge album is bound to keep me as entertained as the next guy, but it will never be my go-to genre; I haven't found that magic spark of life. The same goes for stoner metal. Set me up with Sleep for an hour and I'll be a happy camper, but I can't get passionate about the form. I always have to ask, "This is great and all, but why would you do this when you could be playing doom?" Newcomers Khemmis have really simplified things for me.

I think the whole album is good but not great, but closing on The Bereaved does leave me inclined to view it more positively that I would've otherwise, definitely the best song on it

I think its great. 2015 was such a good year. Just found this, nothing experimental at all but enjoyable nonetheless.

I listened to both their albums finally today, and I must say I prefer this one a lot more to Hunted. The vocals are much better, and it somehow doesn't feel as repetitive. Great sludge-y dooom!

I totally prefer Hunted over this one. Absolution comes across as a collection of good ideas and a neat stylistic take on an otherwise oversaturated genre, however Hunted (imo) really sees the band fully realizing their sound, and generally writing more interesting instrumentation. I definitely enjoy both, but my vote goes to Hunted.
