I'm really liking those two tracks on their Bandcamp page. Very promising album for me.

Thanks for letting me know that there's another track!

My most anticipated record for this year, most likely.

I didn't go in expecting it to be an Occult Rock beater, but at the time I didn't know this was going to be one long composition separated into individual tracks (unnecessarily imo). Because it's more cohesive than Occult Rock I think it's quite possibly even better (no out of place black metal here). It's just a staggeringly immense, sprawling psychedelic kaleidoscopic journey. I'm not sure why I ever had a problem with the production when the first track was released; I'm wondering if it wasn't the final mix. The final product is as every bit as great sounding as OR. Yes, yes and more fucking yes.

I hope to your giddy aunt I get to see them live again soon.

Well fuck then. Need to listen to it ASAP.
So, no more a bass-heavy sound?
Let's see. OR is one of the top five records of the last five years IMO. This really needs to be great to match it.

Well I never found it too bassy to begin with, for me it sounded a little abrasive. It's quit bassy, but I love that it gives the sound so much oomph.

Your description yesterday had me anticipating that this would be totally chaotic and Al(uk To)lodo the place, but I actually rather like the mix of menacing BM and frantic jazzy drumming, and the more experimental parts never get tedious. Your description of Occult Rock makes it sound noisier and wackier than this one - how far away from this one is it?

Edit: Ah crap, I thought I'd come up with a funny half-pun with the band name, but turns out I'd forgotten how it was spelt. I'll blame it on getting into labs before 8:30

To be honest they're basically the same. Occult Rock has a more distinctive black metal song at the start of the album, and the rest mimics the style on this one throughout, so if you like this you'll like that one.

"Al lodo the place"

Quite strange your scores are so dissonant, considering that once the first track of Occult Rock is removed they're practically sibling albums. Perhaps this one is slightly more contiguous from a song to song aspect.

The main reason is that I found the progression (or evolution...whatever you want to call it) within and between songs was much better on this album. I felt there was a palpable momentum whereas on the previous album it was a bit tedious, i.e.: "when is this going to end...?"

Well I imagine the fact Voix is basically half the length of Occult Todolo's 85 minutes probably helps with that too =P

Woah, never noticed that - that probably made a huge difference Since the band appears to write albums that are meant to be heard in their entirety, I think this length is far more appropriate, although I guess it depends on how you listen to your music.

I love this album, but nowhere near OR at all, even though we had that first track there.

The drumming on this album was particularly jazzy, which I found really spiced up their sound. Also the guitar work is a lot more interesting imo.
