Originality is something the death scene largely lacks. It seems that just about every band is content to sound exactly like Morbid Angel. Luckily for us, Nile is here to change that. Now, don's get me wrong. Just like every other death metal band, they take a lot from Morbid Angel, but unlike many bands, they don's just steal old Angel riffs and redo them. Instead, they have created a sound that is essentially all their own.

Why why why?????? why the fuck why???? why should this album have such an awful production? with a better one it could have been (close to) a masterpiece... To Dream Of Ur has an amazing solo and generally i love solo's of this album....

Great album! And the production doesn't really bother me, because the songwriting more than makes up for it to be honest!

Great album. Very atmospheric at times.
People often complain about production but I have no problem with it. I just find it a bit muffled, so I turn up the volume a little.

I'm not a fan of the muddy, muffled production, but musically there's a lot to enjoy on the album. It's atmospheric quality is definitely it's strong point. I think Nile have made better albums, but I still enjoy this one a lot, and it was the first Nile album I heard/bought, so I became a Nile fan due to this album.

I won't deny that it is muddy and muffled. It is. But I guess when you listen to lots of raw Black Metal bands like me, the biggest issue you have with production is when it is too clean and polished, which is certainly not the case with this album.

Yes, I agree. Such a shame, I like this one and In Their Darkened Shrines, but their production... I don't like them. Who knows if they release an live album

on the other hand i find "In Their darkened Shrine's" production awesome. it's not the clean and polished sound but it fits perfectly to the music and makes the guitars sound awesome!

The title track is one of the best songs they ever wrote, me thinks.

One of their better albums. While the production isn't perfect, it's not terrible by any means.

With such an impressive atmosphere and songwriting, this deserves at least an 8/8.5 (I lean more towards 9).
