With 'Sin After Sin', Judas Priest released an album that I believe is one of the very first heavy metal albums. I don't deny that Black Sabbath invented the genre, but Judas Priest is mostly far away from the blues while Sabbath based all their early stuff in blues rythms and scales. So this might be one of the first albums on which a heavy metal band stepped away from the blues and started to define the the new born genre's own rules.

A good album, though a bit tedious at times. Also, 'Dissident agressor' is just solid.

I wonder why nobody talks too much about this album. It's full of classic stuff, definitely my second favorite album by them.

And those 2 covers (Race with the devil and Diamonds) are holly balls.

Maybe beacuase they recently had realesed a masterpiece in SWoD and then signed for a big label. The unique sound from SWoD is almost gone and SAS is irregular, imo track 2 and 4 disturbs the priest sound, the rest of the songs are good but none of them as good as one the album before, track 2, 8 and 9 are my favourites.

Well decent album, still old 70's touch but 1th album when you can tell that singer is Rob Halford, otherwise previous ones, you simply need listen and guess, now you can hear his specific voice. I love this album.

Pretty nice one even though it lacks flow IMO. Simon Phillips drumming is one continous highlight and it's really sad he was only part of this Priest record.

Kind of good continuation from Sad Wings, yet this is not so amazing; it's rather good songs overall w/o many huge classics. I agree w/ malfunction about the drummer; he is sort of outplaying the rest of the band.

Fun experimentation from Priest! A nice transitional album between Sad Wings (where they defined their classic sound) and Stained Class (where they perfected their songwriting).

There is an overall fun groove throughout and the drummer (who was only 19 years old at the time!) does a phenomenal job! Halford's piercing vocals are a joy and the guitars are catchy as always.

This album has also a lot of slow moments, most significantly on the tracks "Last Rose of Summer" and "Here Come the Tears". While I prefer their faster songs, it's still interesting to see the slower, less common side of Priest - and on "Here Come the Tears" Halford's voice is heartbreakingly heavenly and when the guitars charge in in full force, it's unbelievably epic!

"Sinner" and "Diamonds and Rust" are the absolute masterpieces on this album and "Dissident Aggressor" is also fun, but I was pleasantly surprised by "Call for the Priest" and "Raw Deal" - those are some damn catchy tracks

Not their finest album, but Rob Halford's vocal performance is up there with his very best. it doesn't help that it's sandwiched between Sad Wings Of Destiny and Stained Class, two outstanding records.
"Dissident Aggressor" Call for the Priest" and "Raw Deal" are stand outs for me.

Underrated, this is another gem from their early stuff. Easily stronger than Killing Machine and British Steel.

Their most underrated album. It's a perfect mix of ballads and heavy metal. A rather emotional record.

I know I am in the minority, but these days I prefer Sin After Sin as a whole over Sad Wings Of Destiny. Then, Stained Class came and outclassed everything.
