I also hated when Emperor did their 2013/2014 shows with Faust. Yes, he paid his dues to society, but that doesn't mean he should get a stage like that. I understand why they did it, but still don't think it was right.
And just because Neige hasn't been sentenced for any nazi related crimes doesn't mean he hasn't committed any. And there's no way to know. But I guess it's easier to be more tolerant and forgiving if you like an artist/band.
Don't get me wrong, it's still not ideal and definitely something I constantly have on my mind when it comes to alcest. But I believe him and respect the way he owns up to that past.
As far as neige, why does it matter when he realized he did wrong? The main thing is that he did. He was never heard being publicly racist, and has clearly distanced himself from the band and their ideology.
Yes. And that makes him a free man who has paid his dues to society. His ex-wife is still heavily traumatized to this day and he has a stage, a band, a label, and a platform.
Very tight and intricate album, but there's nothing to latch on to. It wasn't unpleasurable to listen to, but once it finished all I could muster was a "meh". I guess you could say I found this rather lifeless compared to their previous works.
Written by Guest on 16.07.2017 at 23:59 Haven't heard much of this band's work. Oddly enough there is quite a few people my age around here that love these guys. Are they really any good?
I recall I gave Weightless a listening back when it was released and I found it fairly good tbh. Worth check it out. I'm not a prog fan by any means (closer to the contrary most of the time) so in my case I just kept in mind to have it mostly in the background and enjoy the overall idea rather than specific songs, riffs and such... Like a jazz or even a drone/ambient album in a way.

I don't take enough drugs these days to make listening to this kind of stuff interesting anymore. It seems like wankery for wankery's sake.
That's just how progressive music is my man. Progressive music speaks to musicians, and all the "wankery" is to hopefully inspire and influence other musicians. I am a drummer, and I love listening to Progressive Music because it gives me new ways to practices and how to increase my skill. Animals As Leaders aren't wanking necessarily, but making complex music to show their talent. If you want to check out bands who wank for the sake of wanking, then check out Technical Death Metal... Brain Drill is the worst example...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vrbt14uej08 this live version of "The Brain Dance" is my favorite track by this band. Really mesmerizing and complex at the same time. These guys make me want to buy an 8 string and start composing on it. I actually am planning to do it soon after I decide which guitar to pick.
