Instead of releasing it as a single, they put an old live track on it and sell it as an 7" EP. Oh Dimmu...

Edit: To make things worse, the track sucks.

Not what I wanted to hear, but then again others might like it, so it's all good.

Well at first listen, it doesn't sound bad. They clearly changed in those years obviously. It even sounds good as expected from a band of this caliber. At times their new sound reminded me of Ghost, more - I don't know - lighthearted. Not as many hooks as I remembered them having in like 2007 but looking at this song as a single that is meant to appeal to as many people as possible, I think its fine. Just the costumes and atmosphere are a bit weird to me, like they are still stuck between two worlds and haven't fully transitioned into something else or evolved. Anyways I'm stoked for what's coming from them.

Wow.......The new song fucking sucks. Too much symphonic and not nearly enough blast beats. Galder has his good moments, but damn, this is garbage. This is pretty much the first time that this band has truly disappointed me. I hope that the other new songs on the upcoming 'Eonian' record won't be as terrible

Listening to the new song right now and clearly I'm not convinced... Even though Abrahadabra isn't their best at least it sounds good, better than this.

If it were some new band, I'd probably have kinda liked the song, because it's ok in itself. But as a DB song, it's just not what you'd expect at all. Sounds like metal-influenced symphonic music rather than the other way around...

Exactly my thought. If you want to enjoy the song, forget that it's Dimmu Borgir. It's ok actually. But it has nothing to do with extreme, let alone black metal. More like Nightwish feat. Shagrath.
