When a band has been around for as long as Marduk has, there is not much to say that has not been said already. I'm just going to make it clear from the beginning that this review will not take sides in the right-/left-wing fascism/nazism debate, but I will say that I do find the band's talent to piss off SJWs and religious nutters alike highly enjoyable.

Crappy artwork... Didn't like Frontschwein that much. Not bad but I'm not fond of WW2 plots, I'm more into anti religions stuff ! :p

I think Marduk is one of the very few bands from the scandinavian 80'/90' "kult bm" that still holds an interest to me.
Love the first song released, so naturally looking forward to the rest!

Better than what I expected. What can best describe this albums is cohesiveness and simplicity. They dropped the pointless moments of the overall bloated Frontschwein and blends fast raw black metal parts with more melodic parts. In this aspect, it is similar with their best output Rom 5:12, but it lacks the songwriting creativity and the overall length, being almost half of its length.

This album is a nice listen particularly since it is short. This kind of music is not meant to be over 35 minutes as it does not have much to offer in terms of complexity and structure. Unless it is something akin to Rom 5:12 which was an experiment, not the usual Marduk, then there is no point in stretching the length. And they nailed it.

Almost agree with you but for the comparison with Rom 5:12. So far Viktoria lacks everything that would make me like it , it 's nothing special, no special arrangement, no "soul" and pretty short, not to forget that ugly cover artwork.

The first song kind of sucks. The two slower songs are sub-par. All the rest is quite cool, but if we subtract the three I mentioned, we're left with like 22 minutes of good music. 22 out of 34 is roughtly 66%, so the rating will be an appropriate 6.6.

Why is Gene Simmons the album artwork.

Yeah these guys are running out of ideas, picking random people for their covers like that...
Next they will put a random girl shoving a cross upon her anus or something

That's funny; I thought it was Ted Nugent.

It's not the best Marduk album by a long shot, but it's not the worst either. I'm a bit surprised by the low rating. Some gems in here: The Last Fallen, the title track and the Devil's Song are all great.

It's so so. Since Legion left the band, Marduk became a "so so" band. This current vocalist doesn't even come closer to "Legion". Now, Dark Funeral has same problem too. Emperor Magus Caligula was such a great vocalist and this new guy is "meh". Sucks, because I loved those two bands so much. They have produced such masterpieces like "Diabolis Interium" or "World Funeral"... And Behemoth is on the same path too - producing crappy music nowadays. Days like "Zos Kia Cultus" or "Demigod" are gone... It's just sad... The only band that never disappoints so far is Belphegor. Mayhem doing great too actually and Hecate Enthroned's last album is perfection.
