Yes it's great, and Michael Romeo is a fking great guitarist, but his style is so recognizable and so all over the place that for me it starts to get a bit repetitive.
It would be a nice change of scenery if he could team up with another guitarist even if it's only for a couple of songs.
"Black" has a quality that we don't hear nowadays...!
This album is great, there is no doubt about it.
Michael Romeo is indeed a great musician and it's another masterpiece done by him. "8.7"
Haha what's the source? Are you talking in terms of a typical album released by a typical band, because it certainly hasn't been in any way soon in any other way

I honestly don't remember... I usually do my best not to push wind out of my backside based on rumors but I genuinely don't know where that came from.
Edit: it could've been a FB post from J Mac but in retrospect I'm not sure
Edit 2: also if you check their Wikipedia: "According to Romeo, a sequel, War of the Worlds, Pt. 2, is already at the final stages of recording, but will take a while to be released [...] "

I checked 3 sources cited on Wikipedia - Blabbermouth, one Fanbase YT channel, and Guitar World. As of now, it becomes official once musician(s) start quoting on new album recordings.

You do realise we're talking about a vague comment I made 2 years ago? Official is when you see it in the news feed...
Also I'm pretty sure now that I saw J Mac post a picture of the recording session.
My 2nd fav guitarist of all time, one of the greatest, and apart from the technicality, he is a brilliant songwriter and composer. I listened to it when it came out and was hooked to several tracks but when I revisited it this year, man I love it even more.
I was really impressed with this piano cover of "Fear Of The Unknown" which is my fav song on this record.
I am checking this out for the first time before listening to the newly released Pt.2.
And damn! This is impressive! I'm usually not a big fan of this lighter prog style, but some Symphony X albums count as the exception. And since the exquisite musicianship and the phenomenal vocalist here together sound like Symphony X's good ol' days, this gets a big from me!
