HammerFall is one of the most legendary and influential bands in power metal and, in particular, in the Swedish metal / rock universe. On this eleventh studio album, they make this clear when they create Dominion, which fits perfectly with what HammerFall are.

This album comes after two mixed feelings albums, Built To Last and (r)Evolution, and it was the hope to a return to a more solid and consistent album, but Dominion brought nothing different from these albums, except a very good production. After listening to the complete album, only one or two songs will stay in your head; the lyrics are generic and disconnected with random themes. You can confirm this on YouTube, where Joacim Cans explains the creation of the album track by track and you realize the songs are pulled from nothing, but on the other hand you can realize too that their focus was in the production of the sound.

Solid record. Not their most memorable record by all means but enjoyable enough for fans of the typical power metal tropes.

Heh, can't get what the people waits from a PM album. This album is really nice, and it's bashed here with a 6.9 But hell! We are in Metalstorm, a site where Power Metal is not well received

For the record, I enjoy Power Metal but when was the last time HammerFall made a very strong memorable album? I enjoyed Dominion but it is nothing compared to their early works - Legacy of Kings, Glory to the Brave, Crimson Thunder etc

The last album I bought from Hammerfall was Crimson Thunder --- I remember it pretty well because I bought it at the same time as Prophet from Luca Turilli, and they can't be compared, tho I enjoyed both --- but almost all the newer songs I heard from Hammerfall didn't do anything for me. I also recall some interview where Hammerfall basically admit they are in music just for the money. While I appreciate the honesty, I still believe in people doing music because they love it. I believe in people doing something for their passion, and if you're good, money will show up. Doing just for money doesn't feel right for me.

As for this one, I haven't bought but I listened at Youtube, the song Dominion I actually liked quite a lot, the rest of the album not really. But I won't cast a vote.

I would give it a good rating of 7. But I am giving an 8 due to Joacim's majestic vocals and his ability to keep or even improve his voice in the last years. On some songs, his range is really remarkable so kudos to him. The solos are good too but nothing new or groundbreaking. I enjoyed the album but I must admit, I am even lost between their last few albums because there is nothing that memorable apart from 1 - 2 songs from each.

That's an easy question, the answer is never.

Probably the most bland band out there in my ears. This album is at best mediocre in regards to songwriting and the mastering is utter garbage.

This one I actually enjoyed a lot! Not a proper return to old glory, but pretty solid work. "Bloodline", "Never Forgive, Never Forget", "Scars Of A Generation", "Testify" and the title track are my favorite songs here. 7.5/10
