When Morbus Chron broke up in 2015, their parting statement left hopes for two new bands emerging. Indeed, five years later we have the heavy / speed / punk outfit Tøronto, and also Robert Andersson's Sweven, named after the second, and final, Morbus Chron offering, which is one of the most important death metal releases of the '10s.

This album just encapsulates most of the reasons why I listen to metal.

Terrible shrieks ruined great music.

Wrong. The shrieks are the cherry on the cake.

Untrue about instant purchase.

Apparently it's in your MS collection, so what are you trying to imply?

7.9? I hate this site sometimes. This should be #1 album of the year.

I really struggle to stay interested in new metal releases - I mostly listen to old favorites, or explore cult classics, when I'm in the mood for metal. But this album, man. I had never even heard of Morbus Chron, and now I don't know why. Definitely most interesting metal album in a while, on first listen.

Superb prog metal. Needs more listening to get into, but judging by my few spins I like it a lot. Must check out Morbus Chron next.

I loved Sweven by Morbus Chron. This album is going to be really good if it's anything like Morbus Chron's Sweven.

Also I got so confused. I knew that I have listened to Sweven before. I just forgot that it was the album name and not the band name.

Second listen right now, this is the kind of album that is very cool and interesting to listen to, but not really something I'm likely to feel a strong inclination to return to I suspect

EDIT: Having said that, By Virtue Of A Promise is a pretty excellent song

Lifeless......Another prog band with lengthy songs pulled to maximum to make it to the genre.

In the beginning I was made of clay. Then I bit the apple and they changed me to metal 🤘

Layers upon layers. I was starting to lose faith in the progressive death metal genre but this is an amazing release. This is the epitome of what the genre can do.
