Listen, I don't give a perfect score easily, but Martyrs is damn sure a worthy contender. This is black metal reimagined, repurposed and redesigned. Now, what is it that you love about black metal?

For most bands, saying that the instruments kinda blend into each other would be an insult, but Pa Vesh En are the only band I know who are so meticulous about the production and their soundscapes, that they can make it sound like the album takes place in a vast temple and yet still make it feel densely claustrophobic. There's more orchestral elements and more of a soundtrack vibe this time around to make Martyrs the most evocative and detailed of Pa Vesh En's releases.

I already loved the previous record, and this feels even better. If The Nihilistic Front wanted to make black metal, I imagine the results would have been something like this.

Such an incredibly dark and sinister atmosphere. It's in the realms of Lurker Of Chalice, Akhlys and Blut Aus Nord but even creepier than anything they've ever done, I like it

Whats the point of making it sound like shit ? In the background there seems to be something good happening, but this over the top muffled shit production is just silly

I’d say the point is to create an oppressive atmosphere or soundscape. There are plenty of bands creating “something good” black metal with decent-to-good production out there. I appreciate the occasional atmosphere crafter, especially when the results are this magnificent. The guitar riffs in the distant background and the symphonic elements are actually my least favorite part of this. I wish the melodies were more obscure. It is quite a masterwork in my ears. Clearly, it is not for everyone, though, and that’s fine. I just felt like explaining why it works (for some of us).

This production isn't even bad. Just really dense. It sounds awesome.
