Nergard - Biography
Biography
Nergard saw the light of day way back in 2010, born within the mind of the Norwegian songwriter Andreas Nergård. Andreas pictured an ambitious project that would unite both local talents and international artists on big scale recordings. The first release, an EP entitled The Beginning, came in 2011 and featured vocal performances from Tony Mills, Ralf Scheepers and Mike Vescera. It was highly praised in media but it wasn't until the release of the first full length album, Memorial for a Wish, that the name Nergard really begun to surface in the metal world. This album featured a mixture of genres Andreas was particularly fond of, such as heavy metal, progressive rock and AOR
The next album, A Bit Closer to Heaven, followed the same vibe but had much shorter songs. This album also featured the critically acclaimed single 'On Through the Storm' featuring Swedish singer Elize Ryd. This song pushed Nergard even further up on the metal scene. After its release the project was able to pull off some big shows in Norway, including playing the main stage at Trondheim Metal Fest, a festival that boasted Sabaton and Stratovarius among the headliners. Andreas continuously writes and records new songs, and he has also re-arranged and re-recorded the entire debut album for a release in February 2018.
