Biography
From 1999 using heavy guitars and melodious song, Wallrus have succeeded to acquire a fanatical fan base in the Dutch stoner scene. Starting from Rotterdam in the Netherlands, they built a solid live reputation in clubs and the outdoor festival circuit, with appearances in Nighttown Rotterdam, the Melkweg Amsterdam, and at festivals like Metropolis, Waterpop, Real Rock, and Motel Mozaïque. Wallrus have supported The Tea Party, Karma To Burn, and Five Horse Johnson.
After independently releasing a self-titled EP, the band focuses on an international audience in 2003 with their highly acclaimed album 'The wind blows witches from the sky', initially released on Wallrus' own RockMusic.nl label. Shortly before, Wallrus is spotted by the legendary American punkrock label Long Beach Records who gratify Wallrus with two of their tracks on the compilation disc 'Eat at the Potholder'.
In 2005 Wallrus sign a contract with independent heavy groove rock label Freebird Records for a licensed re-release of TWBWFTS. Early 2006 the band returns to the studio with producer Chris Grem to record a new album. A video is shot with director Willem de Roon for 'High plains drifter'. The new album, 'Burn the shivers', featuring the video and twelve new tracks is released by Freebird Records on September 24, 2007.
