Biography

Formed in Iceland 2002 as the solo project of Einar Thorberg, AKA Eldur, with the main purpose of putting one of the most important Ásatrú literature; Völuspá, into musical form, to honor the old ways. This was to be done in the form of a trilogy. In 2003 the debut was already out through No Colours Records entitled Völuspá Part I: Thors Anger. Due to this being a side project at the current time, the second album Völuspá Part II: The Arrival Of Fenris did not hit the scene until in 2007.

In late 2008, Eldur moved to Norway to change Fortíð into a full lineup band, and while searching for the right people, he finished the last part of the trilogy; Völuspá Part III: Fall Of The Ages. In December 2008 he met up with Daniel Theobald from England, who had moved to Norway with similar creative vision in mind. He instantly showed interest in the project and joined in on drums. In January 2009 the duo recorded a compilation song for a 'tribute to Toteninsel' album entitled 'Ad Handan'. By April, Fortíð had recruited two Norwegians, Øystein Hansen on guitar and Gaute Refsnes on synthesizer and two months later Rikard Jonsson from Sweden joined in on bass.

In August 2009 the first ever Fortíð show was held in Oslo and in December the same year the band signed a contract with the German label Schwarzdorn Production.

The band played few shows in Norway, including the 10 year anniversary of Inferno Festival. Völuspá Part III: Fall Of The Ages was released 26th of March. The album got very good reviews by critics and it marked a turning point in Fortíð's history. In April Fortíð entered studio for the first time as a full lineup band to record a 3 song pre-production promo. In June, the band did a small tour in Iceland and in December Fortíð was back in studio to finish the next album entitled Pagan Prophecies.
