The Funeral Orchestra play very heavy and ritualistic sounding funeral doom metal, which should not disappoint fans of the genre. Their sound is very slow and trance-like: music that brings some new ideas to the funeral doom genre. The band does credit to their name.
The band was formed in Gothenburg, Sweden in 2002. The same year of the band's formation, they released Necronaut and SSBTWOTL (both demos) which ultimately led to the release of We Are The End in 2003. Feeding The Abyss was released soon afterwards, marking the band's official full-length debut. In 2008 the band released the ODO EP on purple-red vinyl.
The band members go by the name Priest, with the exception of drummer Nicklas "Terror" Rudolfsson.
The Funeral Orchestra have made plans to release a new album entitled Necro Occult in the near future.
