It's not crystal clear when did utopian.hope.dystopian.nihilism came to life, but around 2004, Élvio Rodrigues, based on Madeira Island, started searching for musicians who shared the same love for extreme music, as well as, an open mind to make it something of their own. Maybe it was because of the place; maybe because of the people; or maybe he was asking too much. He was unable to find the right people.

After a while, he moved from Madeira Island to Portugal's capital - Lisbon. At that time, he formed "Through Darkness" with Bruno Pereira (vocals), but the problem still remained: they were unable to find the right people to fill the empty spots. Still, Through Darkness, released an EP as a duo, and short after, they entered on an indefinite hiatus.

Time passed, and he continued his path, slowly recording solo tracks. It got to the point where everything was so personal that he had no choice but to embrace the truth - his solo project, utopian.hope.dystopian.nihilism, was born.

After accepting this fact, it was only a matter of time to finish the recordings of his debut album - "Pact With Solitude‟. Finally, the struggles of five years converged to a single moment. Labeling it, is pointless. Hopefully, the world will open their hearts and minds and let this album be a part of their life.
