The idea of creating the band called Lights of Nightmares started in 2007 in a conversation between the Portuguese Joao (Guitar) and his friend Pedro (Vocals). Then, João was studying in the United States and Pedro was studying in Portugal. During that period, João composed all the songs that would be featuring in their debut album and Pedro was helping with the vocal parts. By the end of 2010, João came back to Portugal and in 2011, the band gained it's third and fourth member, Fábio Nóbrega (Drums) and André Franco (Bass) respectively and became a band officially. This happened while the songs were being orchestrated. Afterwards, the band started to rehearse for their debut album that was released on a Friday 13th, January, 2012. The music is Symphonic Metal in it's essence containing elements of Orchestral Film Scoring and Electronic music.
Their goals for 2012 include, not only touring but to look for opportunities outside Portugal. They have also started composing for their second album.
The band is still on the search for it's fifth member to play the keyboards live.
